In Residence: Creative Series

Spend your mornings getting creative with our series of intimate workshops with artists who have previously been a part of Museum of Brisbane’s Artist in Residence program.

Every workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with a celebrated artist and step inside their creative process. Discover their approach, experiment with their techniques and gain new perspectives on the art of making alongside fellow creatives.

From contributing to an evolving collaborative artwork with Man&Wah, to exploring object architecture with Robert Brownhall or experimenting with portraiture alongside Tori-Jay Mordey, each session offers a different way to get creative and make your mark.

Open to all skill levels, these morning workshops invite you to slow down, share ideas and experience creativity as it unfolds.

WORKSHOP Artists, Man&Wah.

Drawing Together with Man&Wah

17 October 2026 | 10:30am–12:30pm

Step inside Man&Wah’s world of organic connection and collaborative creation. In this intimate group workshop, you’ll rotate around the table with fellow participants, each adding to one evolving shared drawing – inspired by natural elements, colour and connection as the piece evolves. Expect the flow of real-time group creation, and a shifting sense of time as it comes together.

All materials provided and all skill levels welcome.

WORKSHOP Robert Brownhall

Drawing in the Dome with Robert Brownhall

13 February 2027 | 10:30am–12:30pm

Spend a morning drawing under the guidance of an artist who knows architecture like the back of his hand. During his residency at Museum of Brisbane, Robert Brownhall sketched Brisbane City Hall from countless vantage points – onsite at City Hall itself, and offsite from spots across the city. In this intimate workshop, he’ll share the foundational drawing techniques behind that work and help you find your own way to see objects from a new perspective.

All materials provided and all skill levels welcome. Participants are welcome to bring their own drawing materials if preferred.

WORKSHOP Tori-Jay Mordey

Portraiture Drawing with Tori-Jay Mordey

6 March 2027 | 10:30am–12:30pm

Join Tori-Jay Mordey for a morning of portraiture, in an intimate workshop. Working alongside fellow portraiture enthusiasts, you’ll draw inspiration directly from the people around the table as you stretch your skills in new directions.

All materials provided and all skill levels welcome. Participants are welcome to bring their own drawing materials if preferred.

Meet the artists. Explore their practice. Make something of your own.
