In Residence: Creative Series with Tori-Jay Mordey

Join Tori-Jay Mordey for a morning of portraiture grounded in human connection and creativity, stretching your skills in new directions.

Join Tori-Jay Mordey for a morning of portraiture, in an intimate workshop held to celebrate the exhibition In Residence: A Decade of Creative Practice. Working alongside fellow portraiture enthusiasts, you’ll draw inspiration directly from the people around the table as you stretch your skills in new directions. This workshop with Tori-Jay Mordey invites you to slow down, share ideas and experience creativity as it evolves.

All skill levels welcome. Participants are welcome to bring their own drawing materials if preferred.

About the artist

Tori-Jay Mordey is a First Nation artist and illustrator based in Meanjin/Brisbane with more than ten years of experience in the creative industry.She was born on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait and raised in Hervey Bay, launching her career at just 17 years old after illustrating for Bakir and Bi, which won the 2012 Blak&Write competition back in the day.

Throughout her career she has honed her skills in murals, digital illustration, and painting. She is widely recognised for her bold use of colour, emotional depth, and expressive cartoon style, often exploring themes of identity, connection, love, and loss; with a deep-rooted passion for visual storytelling.
