Ron McBurnie: Under Moonlight

What does Brisbane look like after dark?

Under moonlight, familiar places take on a different character. Step into a romantic, mysterious, surreal world of Brisbane-born artist and master printmaker Ron McBurnie, through a selection of etchings from our Museum of Brisbane’s Collections.

Featuring the moon and the landscape after dark, Under Moonlight includes scenes of Sandgate foreshore and the inner-west suburban streets surrounding Mount Coot-tha, with its iconic transmission towers beaming from atop the summit. Dogs wander the night, ibises scavenge amongst rubbish and a lone cane toad is struck down by lightning. On display for the first time, the exhibition explores Ron’s introspective, unique observations of everyday Brisbane at night.

Experience Under Moonlight and discover a quieter Brisbane, where glimpses of the familiar give way to something more poetic.
