About the artist

Martin Edge is a celebrated visual artist based in Brisbane. A self-described naïve painter, Edge’s work is largely autobiographical – drawing inspiration from his everyday adventures and the world around him. Since beginning his professional career in 2007, Edge has exhibited in over 100 group shows and 20 solo exhibitions across Australia. His award-winning works are represented in state and national collections, including HOTA (Gold Coast), Parliament House Art Collection, the State Library of Queensland, and City of Moreton Bay Galleries. Edge is a longstanding and proud ambassador for Autism Queensland.

About Welcome to Brisbane

Over three weeks, from 27 April to 15 May, Martin Edge brought the Fairfax Gallery to life with vibrant, large-scale murals celebrating Brisbane. Throughout the installation period, visitors had the unique opportunity to observe the artworks taking shape in real time and engage with Martin as he worked, gaining firsthand insight into his creative process. The project offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the development of a major artwork within the gallery space. Learn more about the project here.
