Martin Edge is a Queensland artist whose playful works capture moments from his everyday life, including both real and imagined adventures. His imagery draws on travel, time spent by the ocean, journeys on various forms of transport (with a particular fondness for CityCats), and observations of the cityscape. By collaging memory and imagination into vibrant compositions, Edge offers a joyful perspective that celebrates the ordinary alongside the whimsical.
For his Artist in Residence project, Edge will transform the walls of the Fairfax Gallery with a large-scale mural created over three weeks. Visitors are invited to watch and engage with the artist as the work unfolds, offering a rare insight into his creative process. Rendered in Edge’s distinct style, characterised by bright colours, flat geometric forms and iconic Australian landmarks, the mural will present two scenes of Brisbane City.
MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC.
