MoB Kids: Fruity Faces Collage

Brisbane-based artist Elizabeth Willing uses food as the primary inspiration for her artworks. You can see more of her work, including the artwork made while she was Artist-in-Residence at Museum of Brisbane.

This activity invites kids to explore food as a mark making tool in the construction of a collaged portrait poster. Using collage and rubbing techniques, kids of all ages can make their very own food-based artwork!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Printer
  • This printable PDF
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Colouring pencils/crayons
  • A4 paper for printing (coloured or white)
  • A3 size paper/card to display work
  • A4 plain white paper
  • Textured biscuits (Elizabeth used Malt O’ Milks for this work)

*We recommend using a large table with a cover, so that crumbs, scrap paper and glue can be easily cleaned at the end of the activity.
