An heirloom is something of special value handed on from one generation to another. It is treasured and held in trust for successive generations

Heirloom: public/private

The pleasure and responsibility of being the custodian of the special object is a task taken seriously by both individuals and institutions. There is a shared commitment to preserving our cultural heritage.

This exhibition brought together paintings and sculpture from the City of Brisbane collection with important pieces of furniture from private and public collections in Brisbane. Some of the furniture had connections to famous and influential people. Some were created by Queensland craftsmen and designers who were involved in the construction and furnishing of notable public buildings and private homes that have become part of the heritage of our city.
