Take part in a conversation about identity and the transformative power of fashion and costumes with two contemporary artists living and working in Brisbane, Gerwyn Davies and Chantal Fraser.

Costumes in contemporary art

Gerwyn Davies is a photographic artist, advertiser and costume maker from Brisbane. His work involves the construction of characters through experimental costume often using recycled, readymade and found material. Gerwyn will offer his insights into the boundlessness of fashion’s transformative potential while constructing an identity.

Chantal Fraser uses adornment as an aesthetic and conceptual tool for material exploration and production. Her practice explores ornamentation as an aesthetic resolution to identity and individuality. Chantal pushes the boundaries of adornment through her installations, performances and digital media artworks and will add a cultural perspective to the conversation.
