Parker, age 11 (Brisbane), Untitled.
During the Corona period a lot of things changed. I couldn’t see my grandparents which was sad. We were already on Minjerribah when all the schools closed and we were told to stay home, so we stayed in our little house there. We were stuck in a bubble of paradise. I would do home-schooling from 9-3pm and on lunch breaks and after school I would surf. My artwork is on a surfboard because that’s what I did the most during the pandemic. It is also a sport that didn’t get banned and you could think and stay socially distanced while still having fun. I have drawn lots of drawings all around me in the shape of a virus. Each drawing has a story of why they mean something to me. I missed my friends and my grandparents and home-schooling is boring. But I also had fun with my neighbours and my Dad was always home.
