Map Making

Map Making

In this hands-on workshop, students will gain a deeper understanding of the landscape and nature of the penal colony and its impact on Aboriginal people by drawing their own map of the area and ageing it with natural dye.

Imagine yourself as the commandant of the Moreton Bay Penal Colony and decide on the layout of the settlement. Students will respond to historically significant maps and documents from the Queensland State Archives.
