Sunday Stories | The Bee Gees
The Bee Gees formed in 1958 and featured the three brothers: Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. They moved to Brisbane from Manchester, England, in 1958, living in Redcliffe and then Cribb Island, (which is now part of the site of Brisbane Airport). Bee Gees played their first gig in Australia at the Redcliffe speedway! Their debut album, “The Bee Gee’s Sing and Play 14 Songs by Barry Gibb”, is pictured here, and is a rare collectors item held by SLQ. The Bee Gees left Australia in 1967, finding international fame for their disco hits of the mid-late 1970s, eventually making them one of the best selling musical groups of all time.
