The Brisbane Celebrates exhibition featured more than 150 photographic works.
This year’s awards attracted entries that payed tribute to how the people of Brisbane celebrated our 150th year. Entries were judged on both interpretation of theme and technical quality by a panel including the Lord Mayor, Network Ten’s Amanda McLeay, ourbrisbane.com’s Dani Nash and Museum of Brisbane Director, Peter Denham.
This award was an opportunity for the community to provide unique visual perspectives on a landmark year in our city’s history, and a chance for photographers of any age to showcase their talents. Many entries on display have captured the amazing community spirit of Brisbane residents, both young and old. Some of Brisbane’s iconic events like the Ekka and Riverfire were also popular choices for the photographers who took part.
The 2009 Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards were supported by Network 10 and ourbrisbane.com and was part of Brisbane 150 celebrations.
