This exhibition celebrated the place of Buddha in Brisbane. It asked you to consider what meanings we attribute to Buddha and how the presence of Buddha reflects the way the city is changing.
With more than 1,000 Buddhas lent to the Museum of Brisbane by the people of Brisbane the exhibition came from the community and was for the community – a collaborative process of understanding what Buddha means to people. To practising Buddhists the statues are important sacred objects. To others the statue of Buddha could be a gift, souvenir, garden ornament or symbol of good luck.
