Sunday Stories | The Ekka Showbag

Brisbane’s RNA Exhibition has been an annual event from 1876 to the present, celebrating many facets of Queensland. The very first sample bag of the Ekka, was actually a free bag of coal! In the early 1900s the sample bag developed into a showbag and was eventually exchanged for a fee. The showbag went on to offer a wide range of treats and products and continued to feature every year at the Ekka, right up to the present! We love these two girls delighting in fairy floss and carrying Jellex showbags at the 1946 Ekka!
