The Guests of City Hall | The Rolling Stones & Roy Orbison

This week we explore the many visitors over the decades who have visited our Brisbane City Hall. Touring with Roy Orbison, The Rolling Stones performed at City Hall in 1965 on January 25 and 26. It was the first tour of Australia for the Stones, who played two sets at 6pm and 8:45pm, although each set was only 8 songs long. The Courier Mail reported that frantic teenage girls chased the band during their show, with Jagger almost dragged off the stage!

“I was photographing Charles and Diana on their first visit up the mall. I followed a detective through the crowd and the next thing I am beside them walking up to the City Hall,” D. Stark.
