Finalists and selected entries from the fifth annual Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards are now on show. The Brisbane Celebrates exhibition which features more than 150 photographic works, including the winning entries, will be on display at MoB until 24 December 2009.
This year’s awards attracted entries that pay tribute to how the people of Brisbane celebrated our 150th year. Entries were judged on both interpretation of theme and technical quality by a panel including the Lord Mayor, Network Ten’s Amanda McLeay, ourbrisbane.com’s Dani Nash and Museum of Brisbane Director, Peter Denham.
This year’s awards were an opportunity for the community to provide unique visual perspectives on a landmark year in our city’s history, and a chance for photographers of any age to showcase their talents.
Many entries on display have captured the amazing community spirit of Brisbane residents, both young and old. Some of Brisbane’s iconic events like the Ekka and Riverfire were also popular choices for the photographers who took part.
Visitors to the Brisbane Celebrates exhibition also voted for their favourite photograph in the ourbrisbane.com People’s Choice Award.
The 2009 Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards and Brisbane Celebrates exhibition are supported by Network 10 and ourbrisbane.com
