Mystery MoBject: an ANT CATCHER























The ant catcher was made of porcelain and was used to stop ants climbing into an old fashioned meat safe or ice-box.  Water was placed in the outside of the dish and the leg of the meat safe or ice-box stood in the centre of the dish. The ants could not climb through the water and the food inside stayed insect-free.
